about a month and a half ago, i bought smlwiki.com as a gag. it now has tens of thousands of eyes on it and when i opened up page submissions, i had hundreds to filter through.
the whole thing came to be when i was making a fake watermark bit for my last youtube upload which you can watch here and read about here, and when i settled on smlwiki.com, me and my friend amine began coming up with ideas for the site so that it could be a little more than just a visual gag.
it has now since overtaken the popularity of the YTP, and in the purest form of irony, given me a dramatic amount of work.
i now spend my days writing code & lore and managing a 250+ user discord server for the project. i'm learning js and php for this project in-realtime, whilst trying to coddle people from breaking it, cheating, etc. basically on my own. i wanted to write this weeks ago, but only today have i finally decided to take half a day off.
it's a nightmare. i can't put it any other way - i frankly wouldn't have made it if i expected this many people to stare in intrigue.
but something in me tells me not to give up on them. there is an absolutely undeniable silver-lining here. the people seeing success, having fun exploring, theorizing, the ones who just appreciate the website for what it is, and the amount of encouragement i've received in the last month is unparalleled to the rest of my life…
though i have to be honest; i hate that i'm creating such a beast of a story. my expectations push me to my limits, and i don't get anything else done. i'm tirelessly outdoing myself, every single day, because people who don't know this still love/praise the result. last month, my plan was to finish up this website and migrate another one, but i've had to push that aside.
one major part of the website, a whole fake computer with codes and fake files to explore, filled with lore, i'd originally decided to cut from the site and left it as an idea instead putting all my eggs in that basket. curse me for going back and finishing it after the site blew up. all i did was give myself tenfold the work.
i plan on adding at least a few more codes, a couple more videos for Mario Cartoons with amine, and adding a few more lengthy pages before wrapping things up and going back to getting more than 6 hours of sleep a day.
